Protection against aging

Under the influence of heat and oxygen, lubricating oils and other organic substances tend to undergo oxidation (aging). Often the influence of reaction products generated during the application lead to an acceleration of aging-induced decomposition processes. The addition of antioxidants to a formulation is able to achieve a significantly improved level of protection against aging. Even if these aging processes cannot be completely prevented, suitable additives are able to slow them down considerably.

Phenols exhibit a stabilizing effect. Similarly, amine antioxidants are especially suitable for lubricants exposed to high temperatures for a long period. Even in small treat rates, amines achieve a good effect and the desired technical outcomes.
